{5-A-Day Book Challenge: Week 5}

Our 5-A-Day book challenge went better this week. (Not familiar with the challenge? Click here for more information.) We still didn't get through all 5 books every single day, but we did much better! I think it helped that I chose more 'baby' books with fewer words that we can get through faster. Both girls are really enjoying it, and Sweet Pea particularly is showing a huge interest in books since we started this challenge. Now any time I'm doing anything other than giving her my full attention, she comes over with a book and tosses it into my lap, saying, 'Boop! Boop!'

So, here are this week's 5-A-Day picks:

Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb - by Al Perkins, illustrated by Eric Gurney. This is the board book version and therefore abridged (did you know that they abridge the board book versions? I didn't until this week!). Cute rhythmic, rhyming silliness.

Moo, Baa, La La La! - by Sandra Boynton. We love her funny rhyming books!

Where Are You From, Little Goose? - by Marc Tetro. Particularly suitable for our kiddies who really don't know where they're from! This book is aimed primarily at Canadian kids I think (since the goose turns out to be from Canada in the end), but is cute for kids from anywhere (especially third-culture kids like ours) to start a discussion about nationality.

The Mole Sisters and the Busy Bee - by Roslyn Schwartz. We love The Mole Sisters series about two moles (sisters, obviously) who have exciting adventures with the help of their active imaginations. Sweet and simple text, gorgeous illustrations.

Green Eyes - by A. Burnbaum. We've had this book for a while but have never read it before. It appears to be about the seasons, as seen through the eyes of a playful kitten. It's marked as a Caldecott Honor Book. We'll see how we like it.

PS - A new weekly 'Outdoor Play' linky party will be starting here on Friday! It is co-hosted by me, Kate at An Amazing Child, and Abbie at Greening Sam and Avery. Come by and link up your outdoor play posts! See you then!
